Dai  Minority
The Dai Minority  (Burmese: ရှမ်းလူမျိုး; Tai Lü: ᨴᩱ/ᨴᩱ᩠ᨿ; Lao: ໄຕ; Thai: ไท; Shan: တႆး, [tai˥˩]; Tai Nuea: ᥖᥭᥰ, [tai˥]; Chinese: 傣族; pinyin: Dǎizú)
The Dai people form one of the 56 ethnic groups officially recognized by the People's Republic of China.
The Dai people follow their traditional religion as well as Theravada Buddhism and maintain similar customs and festivals (such as Songkran) to the other Tai-speaking peoples and more broadly, in regards to some cultural aspects, to the unrelated dominant ethnic groups of Myanmar, Cambodia, and Sri Lanka.
I was dressed in several Dai costumes of various colors and styles, and I was enjoying the depth of sensory experience and joy that comes from this minority group's culture. I adore the beauty of this one-of-a-kind and stunning design.
